When I started Curo, I knew knitwear had to be a big part of it. Not because knitwear is new to golf, but because most of what I found was either built for the course and looked like it, or looked good and did not really work on the course. I wanted something that did both.

A round of golf is four hours of changing conditions. You start cold on the first tee, warm up by the fifth, get stuck waiting on the eleventh and cool down again, and then the wind picks up on the way in. I wanted a layer you could put on at the car park and not think about again until you were home. And once the round was over, I wanted to be able to wear it to the pub, into town, or on a plane.

That is the thinking behind the Merino Haven Hoodie. It is 100% merino wool, which is naturally breathable and temperature regulating, so it copes with that whole day without you having to adjust anything. It is naturally odour-resistant, which helps if you are away for a few rounds, although I would not pretend that means it never needs washing. It has a relaxed cut that sits easily over a polo and does not restrict your swing, and it has a no-itch feel, because there is nothing worse than a layer that you are aware of all day.

It also asks for a little care. Hand wash it cold and lay it flat to dry. That is a small thing to ask of something you will wear this much.

The hoodie is only the start. I want to keep building the knitwear range, and to keep testing and developing it with new knitted materials such as merino and cashmere, to see what works best on the course and what people love wearing off it. Some of that will be a refinement of what we already make, and some of it will be new. Alongside it, our polyester mid-layers and quarter zips still do their own job, and they stay.

If you have tried the Haven, I would love to hear what you think, and what you would like us to make next.
